You can help improve patient safety (here’s how)
Along with you, Magellan is committed to improving the quality and safety of behavioral healthcare for patients. Our quality improvement activity, Improving Patient Safety, is based on the results of our national annual survey of network patient safety practices and management programs. Be on the watch for the 2021 survey coming in August. We value your response!
Prioritized opportunities for improvement in 2021 include the following:
(See additional information on each of these topics designed to assist you in your practice.)
- Communication between behavioral health practitioners and primary care physicians (See the Clinician Communication Form PDF).
- Prescription of anti-craving medications to support abstinence for patients with substance use disorders (See how medication-assisted treatment can pave the road to recovery).
- Communication within the behavioral health system, with focus on discussing and sending information to other behavioral health providers who are treating the patient (See the Clinician Communication Form PDF).
Visit www.MagellanProvider.com and www.MagellanPCPtoolkit.com for additional resources about care coordination, the use of medications for substance use disorders, and medication management.
Please contact the Quality department at HPCOEQuality@MagellanHealth.com with questions regarding this patient safety initiative.
Thank you for helping ensure the safety of Magellan members.
