ABA providers: You must be credentialed through Magellan to bill ABA services

Whether you are writing reports, supervising, training parents, or conducting other applied behavior analysis (ABA) services that require the HO modifier, you must be fully credentialed through Magellan.

The provider name on the claims must match the name of the person providing the service. When we see discrepancies between the two names, we submit the case to our Special Investigation Unit for further review. Therefore, if you have staff who are not yet credentialed, you must be present in all sessions and bill services in your name.

Magellan appreciates your being part of our ABA network; keep those credentialing applications for BCBAs coming! The need for BCBAs continues to rise, due to increased awareness of autism spectrum disorder and the number of children being diagnosed (the CDC estimates that one in 59 children are affected). More resources in this area and earlier detection can help ensure that children get the help they deserve. On behalf of the young members you serve, along with their families and communities, thank you!
