Forums for peer supporters create connections during COVID-19
In April, Magellan’s recovery support navigation team hosted two peer forums for certified peer support (CPS) and certified recovery support (CRS) specialists to connect with each other.
- The first forum introduced the concept of utilizing wellness recovery action planning (WRAP) during COVID-19. WRAP is an evidence-based model recovery tool that can be adapted to support resiliency in hard times. Participants were able to brainstorm ideas with colleagues from the many counties represented.
- The second forum discussed CPS/CRS specialists’ best practices in self-care, which is so important during this time of social distancing.
In recognition of the importance of connecting with peers, Magellan plans to continue these virtual forums.
If you know a CRS/CPS specialist who would be interested in attending an upcoming forum, please contact Emily Ferris at EFerris@MagellanHealth.com.
